About our yacht armor installation service

Yacht Armor is a premium marine-grade protection film engineered specifically for boats and yachts. Unlike a coating, it's a physical, self-healing film layer that bonds to gelcoat, paint, metal and other high-wear surfaces — delivering impact, UV and chemical resistance well beyond what ceramic coatings alone can provide.

As a Yacht Armor Certified Installer, AC Detailing follows the manufacturer's documented installation process at every step — the only path that keeps the 3-year warranty intact and the film performing as designed. The result is a protective film that resists dock rash, UV fade, salt and chemical exposure, with surface-level scratches that literally heal themselves with heat.

Yacht Armor installations are the only coating-related service we offer that includes a manufacturer's warranty. The 3-year coverage applies to defects in the film itself when installed by a certified installer and maintained per the documented aftercare plan we provide with every job.

What's included

  • Yacht Armor Certified Installer — manufacturer-trained
  • 3-year manufacturer warranty on the film
  • Self-healing film — minor scratches heal with heat
  • UV, salt and chemical resistance
  • Reduced maintenance vs. coatings that need annual rework
  • Documented install process and written aftercare plan

Our yacht armor installation process

  1. 1
    On-board assessment
We walk the vessel with you, identify the high-wear and high-exposure areas, and recommend which surfaces are best protected by film versus ceramic or wax.
  2. 2
    Surface preparation
Decontamination wash, clay-bar work and (where required) light correction so the film bonds to a clean, sound surface.
  3. 3
    Template & cut
Panels are templated and cut to match the contours of your vessel — minimizing seams and maximizing coverage on each protected area.
  4. 4
    Wet install
Film is laid down with a controlled slip solution and squeegeed in measured passes to remove every bubble and ensure full adhesion.
  5. 5
    Edge seal & cure
Edges are trimmed, tucked and sealed. Film cures dockside for 24–48 hours, then we walk every panel with you before signing the job off.

Frequently asked about yacht armor installation

Does Yacht Armor really come with a 3-year warranty?+

Yes. Yacht Armor installations include the manufacturer's 3-year warranty when the film is installed by a Yacht Armor Certified Installer and the documented care plan is followed. This is the only coating-related warranty we offer.

Why does Yacht Armor have a warranty when ceramic coatings do not?+

Yacht Armor is a physical film with measurable, controllable performance characteristics backed by the manufacturer when installed correctly. Ceramic coating longevity depends heavily on owner, captain and crew maintenance practices after install — variables we cannot control — which is why we do not warranty ceramic coating work.

Is Yacht Armor better than a ceramic coating?+

For impact, dock rash, UV and long-term physical protection, yes — Yacht Armor outperforms ceramic coatings. It's also a larger investment. Many owners use Yacht Armor on the highest-wear areas and Starke Yacht Care ceramic or wax on the rest of the vessel.

How is Yacht Armor maintained?+

Regular freshwater rinses and washes with a pH-neutral marine soap. Avoid harsh abrasives, scrub brushes and solvent-based cleaners on the film. We provide a written aftercare plan with every install.
